You can grid the original drawing. Then draw a grid for a larger one. The size of the squares should be proportionate. After that, make the larger one by looking at the relation and what is inside each square.

  • Question

What if my rose does not look right?

    Community Answer

The nice thing about art is that it does not have to look perfect, so do not worry if it does not look perfect. If you want it to look better though, keep practicing to improve your skills, so your rose can look how you want it to be. Drawing is a skill that requires practice to improve.

  • Question

Do you have any tips on how to improve my rose drawing?

    Community Answer

Larger drawings provide more room for detail, but you could also try using a thinner or thicker pencil for even more detail. Use color, very deep and rich color, to make the rose come to life.

  • Question

Can I use a Sharpie to outline my rose?

    Community Answer

Of course. Outlining shapes and figures makes the colors stand out.

  • Question

How did you know how to draw a rose so well?

    Community Answer

Practice. It takes years of consistent practice to get really good at drawing. You start by copying others' pictures or just looking at an object in real life and drawing what you see. Eventually, you can draw things from memory.

  • Question

Is it as hard as it seems to draw?

    Community Answer

If you follow the instructions carefully and repeat anything that you don't get right the first time, you will get the knack of it. If it still seems to hard, it's probable that you're not ready to draw something like this yet. Keep trying because that is how you improve; if it's not easy, enjoy the challenge it offers.

  • Question

Should I use paint, pencil, or crayon to make the rose look the best?

    Community Answer

Pencil colors shade very well to make it look realistic, and have many more color options with blending. Crayons offer a texture that isn't desirable among professional-looking art, and paint can be tough for small spots.

  • Question

Where do I shade lighter or darker?

    Community Answer

Shade lighter where the rose would be getting more sunlight, and darker where it would be getting less sun.

  • Question

How do you make it more realistic?

    Community Answer

Shade from line to line, it can be done with just graphite or even colored pencils, which ever you prefer.
